Wounds from a friend

For the full context of this post read Proverbs 27:6.
Have you ever had a friend who has told you something that you didn’t want to hear, but needed to hear? Someone who has shown you some tough love? A friend who has ultimately risked your friendship to tell you the hard truth of life? Those types of friends are hard to come by, but we all need at least one of them.
Solemon gave us this Proverb:
6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted,
but an enemy multiplies kisses (Proverbs 27:6).
Conflict can be hard. It’s risky, but it’s worth it. If you are surrounded by people who only sing your praises, you might take a look around your circle of friends. Anyone can tell you what you want to hear, but it takes a true friend to tell you what you don’t want to hear. Sometimes it is just as hard to speak the truth as it is to hear the truth, but if you don’t have a friend who will call you out when you want it the least it’s time to develop that type of friendship with someone. Be the friend, and seek out a friend who cares more about character than about feelings.
